KEEP ABREAST OF GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES RELATING TO NEW-BORNS AND THEIR CARE

If you are interested in getting the latest information about breastfeeding or looking to update your skills – a good place to start is www.unicef.org.uk/babyfriendly

THERE ARE ALSO MATERNITY NURSE TRAINING COURSES PROVIDED BY VARIOUS SOURCES

– when choosing a course make sure it is accredited by an external body, such as the Open College Network. Two of the best courses on offer are run by MNT training www.mnttraining.co.uk or NEST (Newborn Education Services and Training) www.newborneducation.co.uk. You can also choose to study their modular courses relating to sleep training, reflux babies, post natal depression and caring for multiples.

It is also strongly advised that you take out insurance to protect you in case of accidents or injuries. www.mortonmichel.com or www.nannyinsure.co.uk are both well recognised companies.
